Full detail on each tier below.
Fully-fledged support:
- Patches and updates are released for this version.
- The version is available on the PanPlay CDN.
- The developer can be consulted for assistance via the website and GitHub.
- Changes may be incorporated into this version via a patch after processing by the developer if it is the latest stable relase. However, it is also possible and more likely that changes will be fixed but will only be included in a new subsequent version.
Limited support:
- No patches or updates will be released for this version.
- The version is available on the PanPlay CDN.
- The developer cant be consulted for assistance for this version.
- Changes and new features are 100% no longer imported into this version by the developer.
- It’s still fully usable — it just stops getting improved. The version stays on the CDN and keeps running, but no bugfixes and no developer support/assistance come with it anymore.
Unsupported:
- No patches or updates will be released for this version.
- The version is no longer available on the PanPlay CDN.
- The developer can no longer be consulted for assistance and bug fixes/changes.
- This does not mean the version stops working. Self-hosted instances keep running exactly as before — they just no longer get support or updates. If something breaks, the operator has to fix it themselves or update to a supported version.
Test/Debug- Release:
- This is an intermediate version/development build that is not intended for active productive use. It is also known as an “unstable test release,” as indicated in the version window.
- No patches or updates will be released for this version.
- The developer can not be consulted for assistance and bug fixes/changes.
- It may remain on the CDN a little longer for testing purposes. However, it can be removed at any time or never be available on the CDN.
- If this is the test release of the next stable version, wait for the official release of this to use it in productive operation.
How long a build stays supported:
- On the PanPlay CDN, a new build immediately replaces the previous build of the same version number. A self-hosted copy or fork is not required to follow this and may keep running an older build officially.
- Normally, a build stays supported until 12 months after the date its replacement build was released.
- If the replacement build was an important/security build, that window is shortened to 12 days after its release instead.
- The publish date of each build is shown under its name in the table below — support timing is counted from there.
